The other day I met up with a friend I haven't seen in more than 10 years. 10 years!!! I'm getting old guys, haha. Daniel recently started a side business as a freelance photographer and we walked around the beautiful old city of Dresden to talk about old times but also to take some nice shots. It was really fun! If you ever want to take professional pictures of yourself in and around Dresden: Daniel is super talented, fun to work with and always keen to work with new 'models'. Thousands of supporters of PEGIDA (Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamisation of the West) gathered in the German town of Dresden on Sunday for an anti-Islam protest. One of the group's founders, Lutz Bachmann, recently resigned after German media published Facebook messages in which he called refugees "dirty" and posed as Adolf Hitler. Protesters waved German, Russian and Nordic Cross flags and shouted "we are the people," the slogan used by demonstrators against the Berlin Wall in 1989. … READ MORE : http://www.euronews.com/2015/01/25/dresden-holds-first-pegida-protest-since-founder-s-adolf-hitler-photo-blunder What are the top stories today? British planes dropped explosive and incendiary bombs on Dresden during the night of February 13th, 1945. American planes followed. In four raids, at least 3,900 tonnes of bombs were dropped. The head of RAF Bomber Command in Britain, Air Marshal Arthur Harris, had said in 1943 that: "The destruction of German cities [was part of the] accepted and intended aims of our bombing policy." Breaking civilian morale was intentional then. Authorities point out that Hitler bombed civilians first. The bombing was controversial because Dresden was neither important to German wartime production nor a major industrial center, and before the massive air raid of February 1945 it had not suffered a major Allied attack....

Bombing of Dresden was an attack on the city of Dresden, the capital of the German state of Saxony, that took place in the final months of the Second World War in the European Theatre. In four raids between 13 and 15 February 1945, 722 heavy bombers of the British Royal Air Force (RAF) and 527 of the (USAAF) dropped more than 3,900 tons of high-explosive bombs and incendiary devices on the city. The resulting firestorm destroyed fifteen square miles (39 square kilometres) of the city centre. Between 22,700 and 25,000 people were killed. Post-war discussion of whether or not the attacks were justified has led to the bombing becoming one of the moral causes célèbres of the war. A 1953 United States Air Force report defended the operation as the justified bombing of a military and industrial...

Travel video about destination Dresden. Dresden is the capital of the German Free State of Saxony and a major centre of culture with a remarkable history. I took a day trip from Prague to Dresden as it is a short 2 hour bus ride from Prague. Dresden is very easy to get to from Prague or vice versa. You can use student agency bus company or eurolines bus company. Total ticket price ranges from estimated 20-40 USD depending on several factors including the time of departure, date and seats available. The historical part of Dresden is very walkable and being near the Elbe river is great. Make sure to grab a beer at a beer garden along with some sausages. I suggest the currywurst (I may have spelled that wrong). https://www.studentagency.eu/en/ http://www.eurolines.com/en/ Music Dj Quads https://soundcloud.com/aka-dj-quads Song 'Wonderful World' and 'I Be Good'
